The Tour de France need we say more this is one of the best sporting spectacles in the world and it is right on our doorstep. We look forward to showing you around the pyrenees for this week in July.
Itinerary for the Tour week 3 - 10 July 2020
Friday 3rd: If you are flying into Lourdes or Pau then its an early flight, we will be there to meet you with the team from Pyrenees Cycling for the short transfer to Bareges. Time to get your bikes set up on arrival and get out for an afternoon ride. Transfers can also be made from Lourdes train station.
Saturday 4th: Today we catch our first glimpse of the Tour finishing in Louderville or on the Peyresourde. An early start for those that want to ride out can, across the ride out the Tourmalet from Bareges the Aspin or the Hourquette, this ride has a support vehicle to pick you up or drop you off further towards the Tourmalet if you prefer not to ride the full 115kms, this can be arranged with your guides on the day depending on how you are feeling and if the weather is good you can ride back ;-).
Sunday 5th: We will be riding across to watch the finish in Laruns via the Col du Soulor and the Col d'Aubisque for those that . Alternatively we will be running vehicles across We also get a support vehicle to pick you up on route back to Bareges this can be arranged with your guides on the day depending on how you are feeling and if the weather is good.
Monday 6th: A ride around the Tourmalet, the Col a 100km round trip ride, vehicle support as always will be on hand should there be any mechanicals or tired legs(hopefully not at this early stage)! Your ride leaders will point out intersting points of view and answer any questions you may have along the ride. Back in time to see the Tour finish on the TV in the afternoon.
Tuesday 7th: A ride up to Cauterets and pont d'espagne this was stage of the 2015 Tour through main square in Cauterets, we will be tackling the short but steep climb of Cambasque scene of the Lemond - Fignon battle of the 1989 Tour, returning for those that would like to do an extra climb of Luz Ardiden always a favourite of the Tour sadly not this year.
Wednesday 8th: Your turn to have a day off.
Thursday 9th: Starting to climb from of Luz St Sauveur we head up the valley past the Pic du Bergons as we ride close to the edge of the Gave du Gavarnie towards the village of Gedre this is the easy part once into Gavarnie village we swing a right and head up the Port du Boucharo 2230m up to the Spanish border a total of 32kms. On our return should those of you that want to do the last climb of the week the Cirque de Troumouse is waiting for you a quiet but tough climb getting you up to above 1900m is a great finish on one of the not so well known climbs of the Pyrenees.
